Drom Taberna - 458 Queen Street West, Toronto
THE ART & CRAFT OF JUST BARELY MAKING IT is a grant writing workshop designed to demystify arts funding in Canada, and help to equip artists and arts collectives with the tools needed to research and write their own grants. By the end of the workshop, attendees can expect to leave with a fuller understanding of the funding resources available to them in this country, and a stronger idea of how to successfully write a grant application.
This workshop is ideal for artists and arts collectives within every artistic discipline. We will specifically be discussing grants for creation, production, projects, travel, and professional development. If there is interest, we can also discuss operations funding, strategic initiatives, as well as disability- and First Nations-specific granting programs.
This workshop is not endorsed by any arts council. I am an independent artist and creative consultant sharing my approaches to successful grant writing. I'm a published poet, the leader of The Holy Gasp, and the drummer of Little Rambunctious. Since 2011 I've raised over a quarter million in grants from the Toronto Arts Council, The Ontario Arts Council, The Canada Council for the Arts, CUE, FACTOR, The SOCAN Foundation, and the Ontario Media Development Corporation. I have also sat on the jury for the Toronto Arts Council, CUE, and FACTOR. I myself have successfully earned grants in the disciplines of music, theatre, and literature, and have helped other artists and arts organizations received grants in every major discipline.
Enrollment for the workshop can be secured by sending a $25 e-transfer to hackman.benjamin@gmail.com. If you would like to arrange for an alternative payment method, please don't hesitate to contact me.
