The WordSpell Collective invites you to a showcase of two phenomenal poets: LaMoi and AG.

This is a not to miss show!

We've been showcasing women and gender non-binary spoken word poets in Toronto since 2012!

Open mic time limit = 4 minutes. (Bring your poetry, comedy, music or whatever you'd like! Memorization isn't necessary.)

FEATURE'S BIOS:

Award winning spoken word artist, published poet, arts educator, curator and performance coach LAMOI continues to be a force to reckoned with in the GTA. A Change Agent to art and culture she has been an active spoken word artist since 2008, performing on various stages, and facilitating workshops throughout Toronto, and the Peel Region.

Recognized as one of 100 Black Women to Watch in Canada for 2015, and winning the 2016 Brampton Citizen’s Award for Arts Acclaim, Lamoi is the Founder and Artistic Director of Reckless Arts Collective, she also serves as the poetry coordinator for the Festival of Literary Diversity and is the Talent Manager for the Toronto Nollywood International Film Festival.

AG is an Armenian-Canadian spoken word poet and a member of the 2019 Toronto Poetry Slam Team and has competed in the 2019 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word.

Her culture and identity have molded her perspective and worldview and therefore carry an immense impact on her poetry. She discusses belonging within the diaspora and pressures that women face. AG often uses a comical approach to tackle stereotypes and cultural expectations. She's featured at Toronto's Art Bar series and continues to share her poetry at various stages across the GTA .
