R.I.S.E. Thursdays

  • 918 Bathurst Street Toronto, ON, M5R 3G5 Canada (map)

From our weekly open-mic showcases in Scarborough to our monthly curated showcases in the Annex, please join us in our cornerstone to Reaching Intelligent Souls Everywhere (RISE). Similar to our RISE Poetry Mondays, RISE Thursdays is an open mic event that will take place on the first Thursday of every month in partnership with 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media and Education. Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming platform for self-expression and healing through the performance arts. We are honoured to have Ezra Jordan as our November feature.

EZRA JORDAN:

Ezra Jordan is a singer/songwriter drawing inspiration from genres including Modern Pop & R&B/Funk, creating a soulful, refreshing and authentic sound. Independently, Ezra has accumulated over 3.5 Million Streams on Spotify, was a finalist on CTV’s The Launch (S1,E4) supported Dennis DeYoung from Styx on opening night at CNE: The Exhibition, and just recently performed at TD’s Green Room at The 2019 Juno’s Awards.

Ezra was fortunate enough to be born into a musical household. As the son of Marc Jordan (Rod Stewart, Cher) and Amy Sky (Heart, Olivia-Newton John), Ezra has been surrounded by music since his earliest days taking up piano at the age of 4 and learning guitar and drums while growing up.

At the age of 18, Ezra suffered a life-threatening injury to his leg that ruptured his femoral artery. He required emergency surgery to save his life and avoid amputation. It was an 18-month recovery process, that disabled him to properly sit at a piano. Seeking a different musical outlet, Ezra turned to singing and writing songs, which led him to performing with Scott Helman as his keyboardist and back up vocalist.

Following his time with Helman, Ezra moved to Los Angeles for a short period of time to focus on his solo career. He then returned to Toronto to officially launch his career in 2017. With deep musical bloodlines and a fresh take on pop music, Ezra Jordan is only just scratching the surface of his musical potential.
