Open mic slots are about 5 minutes long, and anyone interested in performing can email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up, though there may be some spots available the night of the event. All styles are welcome (spoken word, music, magic, comedy, dance etc), provided acts are mindful of others. Feel free to invite friends and share this event to help spread the word!
FEATURED ARTIST BIO: Terese Pierre is a writer, editor and organizer. Her work has appeared in the Hart House Review, Bad Nudes, and Longleaf Review, among others. She is currently the poetry editor of Augur Magazine, a Canadian speculative and surrealism literature and art journal. Terese is also a co-host of the Shab-e She'r (Poetry Night), and a co-organizer of Slant Reading Series Slant Reading Series. Terese lives and works in Toronto.
This event is a safe space open to all people where everyone will be treated with dignity and respect. There is NO cover charge, though it would be awesome if you grabbed a drink or some food from the awesome vegan options available at the cafe.
There will be two microphones, two microphone stands, a PA system, and a two-input Fender acoustic amp available for use. Please bring any backing music on a phone with a jack that can connect to the mixing board.
