REBECCA DIEM is an author and poet of smart, hopeful speculative fiction. Her work includes the steampunk novella series Tales of the Captain Duke, following a defiant young aristocrat who saves a band of airship pirates from certain peril and talks her way into joining their crew. Rebecca now calls Toronto home and is on a never-ending quest to find the perfect café and writing spot. You can follow her adventures online @kthnxbex or visit rebeccadiem.com for more stories.
TIMOTHY S. JOHNSTON is an award-winning writer of science fiction mystery/thrillers. He was born in 1970 and has experienced firsthand the explosion of computer technology, the evolution of science fiction in film and television, the birth of action blockbusters, and the exponential growth of the video game industry. He reads as much Crichton, Asimov, and Christie as time permits, and he holds these three writers as his greatest creative influences. Johnston’s science fiction murder mystery The Furnace won the 2015 CYGNUS Award in the Science Fiction Thriller category; all three books in his Tanner Sequence won the 2015 CLUE Award for Thriller / Suspense Novels in the Blended Genre category; The Freezer won the 2016 Science Fiction Epic Award; and The War Beneath won First Place in the 2018 GLOBAL THRILLER Awards in the Action / Adventure category, was a Semi-Finalist in the 2018 CLUE Awards for Suspense / Thriller, and is currently Finalist in the 2019 Silver Falchion Awards in the Thriller category and is Longlisted in the 2019 CYGNUS Science Fiction Awards. His second novel with ChiZine Publications, THE SAVAGE DEEPS, comes out in November 2019.
RAQUEL RICH is a full-time sci-fi author and occasional blogger. She loves to travel, suntan, walk her dog, and is obsessed with all things Beauty & the Beast. She despises cold weather, balloons, and writing about herself in the third person but noticed all the real authors do that. Raquel left (ok, got let go from) a career in the travel industry and rather than looking for a real job, she wrote her first book, Hamartia. Married to the guy she’s been with since she was fifteen (her baby daddy), her superpowers include being a mom to their two awesome grown-ass boys and one fur baby. She was born and raised in Canada to Brazilian parents and lives in the Toronto area with her family. Raquel is a proud member of Broad Universe: an international, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, encouraging, honoring, and celebrating women writers and editors in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other speculative genres.
Music:
KARI MAAREN is as the sparrow's flight through the mead hall, metaphorically speaking. The author of Copper Cylinder-winning Weave a Circle Round, the composer of songs about terrible elves and problematic movie trailers, the creator of time-travel comics that are read by almost six people, Kari is nearly always trying not to mark. She probably doesn't like your shoes.
NOTE that the Round Venue is not currently accessible--it is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs.
