Black Poet Residency

Register: http://www.hamiltonyouthpoets.org/bpr-fall-register

An intensive and dynamic workshop series for young writers, performers and creative-minded individuals from across Hamilton. We recognize the importance of providing a positive and inclusive platform where black voices and experiences are explored, expressed and supported, and aim to deliver an empowering and inspiring program! As a member of the residency, you will have the opportunity to learn from and work with award-winning, critically acclaimed artists and educators. Through their guidance, you will hone your skills, connect with the greater community, and create a strong, impressive professional portfolio; leaving a legacy for future generations of black youth to be inspired by. Throughout the residency, you will also have a chance to set educational goals, strengthen your public voice and further develop your skills in writing, editing, computer literacy and multi-digital processes… All while promoting a sense of cultural identity. Whew! Does it sound a little intense? It is… and it’s also really awesome!! From workshops and public performances to multi-disciplinary collaborations and professional development sessions at OCAD University, the Black Poet Residency has a little something for everyone!
