The Drake Hotel
TPS returns to the Drake for another entertaining and engaging spoken word competition and open mic and special feature poet performance!
Hosted by Rahul Gupta, this slam also offers an open mic for anyone who wants to perform but doesn't want to enter the competition. All styles welcome on the open mic.
Doors at 7pm signup to compete/open 730 show 8 Limited seating. Arrive early for seats.
About our feature poet: Buddy Wakefield returns to Toronto on a world tour celebrating the release of his first book of new work in eight years, A Choir of Honest Killers. Wakefield was the first author released on Write Bloody Publishing, is a three-time world champion spoken word artist, and the most toured performance poet in history. When not on tour for his day job, poetry, he lives in Los Angeles, California, as a free agent pursuing acting and screenwriting for both television and film.

Accessibility info: The Drake Hotel has 1 step at the front door on Queen St. W. There are no steps and a button to open the door on Beaconsfield (west side of the building). To get from the lobby to the Underground, there are 19 steps to the doors/bar level, then 4 steps leading from the bar area to where the chairs are setup. Bathrooms are back on the same level as the bar in the Underground. A wheelchair accessible, gender neutral washroom is on the main lobby level.
